Berlin has had a great impact in the history of Europe. For example Nazi-Germany and communist East-Germany both had a focus point in Berlin.

When I visited Berlin I wanted to show on my pictures the sad history of the city. iPhone and app Hipstamatic gives old and depressing look. So instead of my Nikon D300 I used the Hipstamatic to take these pictures.

I like to walk around with my camera and capture nice views of Finland. There is so much to see in my home country. Here are some miscellaneous photos taken around Finland.

Water and food are the basic sources of life. Without it there is no life. In Africa millions of people are suffering from the lack of clean water and food. The current crisis of the world economics is worsening the situation. Price of the food is increasing, and poor people cannot buy it anymore.

Non-governmental organizations are doing important work by helping the poor. The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission is helping for example in Senegal by constructing clean water wells and by building mills. Work is coordinated with the local partner, Lutheran church of Senegal.  Work has been successful and now many people have access to better life.

Looks and faces of people are interesting to observe. Here are some of the portraits I took in Mauritania. The country suffers from poverty and from lack of water and food, but still people are trying to live they ordinary life with a little smile.

Children’s home in Musoma Tanzania takes care of the children whose parents are dead or unable to take care of they own children. Faith based home provides food, shelter and place to sleep in a year for around 20 orphans. Before the age of two, children are placed to new families and they will get a normal life were there is a care taking mother and father.

Human rights situation in Colombia is one of the worst in the world. People are arrested, kidnapped or even killed. Guerilla movements and government play a role in the complicated civil war. Also the United States of America is involved in the conflict by having a war against Columbian drug dealers.

Non-governmental organizations have a great role on promoting the human rights. At the end of the year 2008 I visited Colombia and the area of Chocó and Arauca. I was able to see how the NGO’s are working in difficult situations. For example Lutheran World Federation is supporting successfully many local human right focused organizations. By promoting human rights and peace Columbia changes step by step.
